What role do plasmodesmata play in plant cells? see section 11.2 (page 239) ?

    Plasmodesma are tiny highway like channels in plant cell walls that allow the cells to transport and communicate between themselves. The plasmodesma allows the apoplastic and symplastic channels of one cell to connect to another individual cell.
