Explain how the observations of the amoebas and bacteria studied by Professor Kwang Jeon relate to the endosymbiotic theory.

Professor Jeon saw that his group of amoeba was developing large number of dots. These dots turned out to be bacteria, which were quickly killing off the group. Jeon tracked the least sick ones and started keeping records of their progress. As it turns out, the least sick ones were more resistant to the bacteria since they survived and came back to their normal modes. However, somewhere in the range of 40,000 of the invading bacteria were still present within each surviving amoebas. Through experimentations, Jeon realized that the nucleus of the amoebas could live without the once pathogenic bacteria. This led to the discovery that it is possible for an organism to become dependent on and a functional part of invading organisms as we call "endosymbiotic theory".
