When looking for observations for evidence of a reaction, you are looking for bubbles which will be the evidence of chemical reaction. Oxygen gas is formed only if the products are formed and the reaction happens. We see gas as bubbles when the gas is formed in a liquid. The plant here which we are testing is a potato and found that it contains catalase because a lot of bubbles are present and created a foam which rises near the top of the test tube.
