    Typically areas that are high in serine, threonine, aspargine, glutamine and tyrosine. These areas are hydrophilic and often are exposed as areas to interact beyond the membrane with items outside that matrix. It allows them to bind with outer items and bring them into to those amino acids who are hydrophobic and inside the cellular matrix.
