What warning signs were there that dan had skin cancer?

Dan had a suspicious mole located on his body. The mole continued to grow in size which should have been a clear warning sign to Dan that he should have went to the doctor. Cancer moles change in shape and color and cause pain and bleed when irritated. Dan had these symptoms, but ignored them.
