    The answer is 16.

Pan troglodytes is the scientific name for the common chimpanzee, or commonly referred to as just chimpanzee, from the order of Primates. Regarding their dental development, we have much more information about the chimpanzee that about other great apes still in existence. This is a species that shares the most genetic information with humans.

The chimpanzee has 32 teeth (just like humans), which are pretty similar to human teeth. We have the same dentition pattern (same number in the same order). They use them not just to break down plants, but they also have large canines that allow them to bite into flesh. The maxilla is the upper jawbone that animals have which is formed when two maxillary bones are fused.

To answer your question, the jaw of the chimpanzee has 32 teeth, 16 in the maxilla, and 16 in the mandible.
