How is the work of the digestive and circulatory systems related to the respiratory system?

The circulatorysystem brings nourishment to all cells of the body. The circulatorysystem exchanges critical gases with the respiratory system; unneeded carbon dioxide is exchanged for much needed oxygen. The respiratorysystem provides oxygen so the body can "burn" (oxidize) the food that is brought into the body through the digestivesystem.
