A woman who has tested positive to group B streptococcus (gbs) usually does not feel sick or have any symptoms, but the risk is that she can pass this bacteria to her baby during birth. To avoid this happening, the pregnant women, during labor, they are administered with antibiotics (to kill bacteria in their body) through an injection to the vein (IV). Hence, the priority instruction for her client’s treatment and preparation plan, the nurse will have to be ready with an antibiotic injection to be administered to her clients once the labor pains sets on.
