A 20-ounce soda typically contains 15 teaspoons of either sucrose or high-fructose corn syrup. these sugary beverages are a leading source of calories in the american diet and have been correlated with obesity and diabetes. there may be even more to this sweet dilemma, however. could the sugars found in soda be altering your brain function?

    YES, the sugar found in soda can alter one's brain function.

    A new research has shown that individuals who consume much soda may have poorer brain memory, smaller overall brain volume and a significantly smaller hippocampus. The poorer memory will occur as a result of reduction in the size of hippocampus, which is the area of the brain that is important for learning and memory.
