What advantage do you think a protist would gain by having a unicellular, filamentous, or colonial form?

    One of the advantage that a protist will have is the ability to reproduce asexually, without having to look for partner. Protists can reproduce by binary fission, multiple fission or by budding. The second advantage is that it does not have a need for a complicated organ system, in which many things can possibly go wrong.
