During the pleistocene era, many large mammal species went extinct. their permanent disappearance occurred in a short period of time when humans were expanding across north america. in this situation, how do many scientists view humans?

    In this scenario the scientists see the first people of North America, the Paleoindians, as an aggressive invasive species that was killing of the native species, and took away the apex predator niche in the food chain from the native apex predators, and overkilled the herbivorous mega fauna. This is know as the ''overkill hypothesis''.
