Medication protection is caused by changes in the hereditary material of HIV. Similarly as the human body depends on the hereditary code in its DNA, HIV depends on the hereditary code in its RNA. Arbitrary changes (transformations) in these qualities cause changes in the resultant infection and a few changes prompt medication protection.
