The neonatal intensive care unit has requested ffp stat for a neonate. no blood specimen is available for typing. what blood type plasma would you thaw

    The best option is to go for the one with AB blood type. Also, with plasma, the RhD status is not really important. So it is not a must that it be AB positive or negative. The reason being that, since the donors have AB antigens on their RBCs, they will not have any anti A or anti B antibodies in their plasma. Thus their plasma is neutral.
