the best drug to use is epoetin alfa. it is also referred to as epogen or procrit and it an effective alternative in treatment of an individual with chronic anemia. its acts as a hormone referred to as erythropoietin which stimulates synthesis of red blood cells in bone marrow. in other words it acts a messenger to tell the bone marrow that it should synthesize more erythrocytes.
