The most immediate effect is inhibition synthesis of various proteins needed by the bacteria to perform various cellular functions ... rifamycin belongs to a class of antibiotics that binds to enzyme RNA polymerase and inhibit its function of transcribing DNA in RNA which is finally translated to structural proteins and enzymes that play key role in the survival of the bacteria. so using of rifamycin will eventually kill the bacteria.
