Methylene blue it has a higher molecular weight than potassium permanganate, therefore the smaller, the lighter the molecules are diffused faster than the heavier one. Potassium permanganate has a weight of 158g/mole it increased rapidly while methylene blue has MW 374s/mole it gradually increased by 9.50mm only. The molecular weight and time affect the diffusion of the particle.
