Cyanobacteria are prokaryotic organisms that are capable of conducting the process of photosynthesis. They can transform the energy that comes from the Sun (Sun's radiation) into simple sugars. Therefore, they are able to produce food for themselves, without any external output (in simple terms, without eating other organisms) which makes them autotrophic.
