A scientific study showed that the depth at which algae were found in a lake varied from day to day.     The lakes or water bodies has unequal distribution of the intensity of the light. The aphotiz zone do not receive any light whereas photic zone has abundance amount of light.

    The growth of the algae occur in the photic zone as they require the sunlight for their food preparation. The cloudy days allow the light to reach only few surface levels where as in sunny days the light can go up to the several meters in the deep ocean.
