    Interphase

    Explanation:

Interphase can be described as the phase in which a cell spends most of its time. During this phase, the cell prepares itself for division by making copies of its DNA and other proteins which are required by the cell for division. The cell also carries out its normal metabolic activities such as growth during this phase.

Initially, the interphase was termed as resting phase but the name had to be changed as during this phase the cell is undergoing many different activities for preparing itself for cell division along with the normal functions of the cell.
