Scientific investigations often lead to the formulation of new scientific questions. The observations Charles Darwin's work after he returned home from his voyage prompted him to ask which question? Do living things change over time, and if so, how? Are the Galapagos finches and those on the mainland the same species? Are pigeons related to the Galapagos finches? Can selective breeding in nature lead to a new species over time?

The answer is: Are the Galapagos finches and those on the mainland the same species?

    Explanation:

Charles Darwin was a popular English naturalist who made the Theory of Natural Selection in "Evolution." Before concluding his theory, he went on a voyage for his scientific research. His voyage took him 5 years. He stopped over the Galapagos Islands and from there, he was able to notice the similarities of the creatures from one island to the other. However, all of them were unique in that, they tried to adapt in the environment they were living.

And so, a question struck him whether the Galapagos finches and those on the mainland are same species. He also wanted to know whether they come from the same lineage. These observations of his can now be found in his book entitled, "On the Origin of Species."
