An artificial cell has is made up of 30% sugar and 70% water. It is placed in a solution

that has 65% sugar. What will happen to the cell and why?

It will stay the same size because it was placed in an isotonic solution.

O It will swell because it was placed in a hypotonic solution.

O It will die.

It will shrink because it was placed in a hypertonic solution.

    It will shrink because it was placed in a hyper tonic solution

    Explanation: Hyper tonic = More solute (sugar)

    Hypo tonic = more liquid (water)

    When a cell is placed in a solution it will essentially try to balance out so in this case water goes out the cell and solute goes, in shrinking the cell.
