    Predation makes sure that no species becomes overpopulated.

    Explanation:

    For example, between a fox and a rabbit. If the fox was not the predator, the rabbit population would be out of control. Rabbits eat grass and stuff so too many rabbits will eat all the grass. There will be a chain effect. Foxes are needed to control the rabbit population and restore stability in an ecosystem
