Cyclin dependent Kinases or CDKs belong to the protein kinases family. It's function is to regulate the cell cycle, mRNA Processing, differentiation of nerve cells, and regualting transcription. It is seen in all Eukaryotes. Yeast cell proliferate normaly when the CDK gene is replaced with the homologous human gene. The molecular weight of CDK ranges from 34 to 40 kDa and these are small protein. A regulatory protein which is known as Cyclin to which CDK bind. A little kinase activity is seen in CDK, in absence of Cyclin protein.
