In short, logging loosens sediment on land, allowing it to be transported downstream and deposited over critical nursery habitat for fish where it severely decreases habitat suitability. The loss of nursery habitats causes the declines in abundance and productivity of fish populations. The coral reef is directly impacted by the loss of fish.
