Solar winds gives comets their tails.

Sunspots are seen every 11 years.

Solar flares are big explosions on surface of sun.

    Explanation:

The solar winds are big explosions due to collision of hydrogen atoms to form the corresponding helium atoms and energy by the process of nuclear fusion. This process is taking place at the core of sun. This explosions release a huge amount of charged particles into solar atmosphere. Now this solar atmosphere extends upto the Mars. So technically earth is within solar atmosphere. So the comets passing through this region has their tails away from this solar wind.

The solar flares are the smaller explosions that take place on the surface of the Sun. This results in even more emission of charged particles into solar atmosphere which disturbs the Earth's ionosphere and causes Aurora Borealis and Aurora Australis.

Sunspots are the dark regions on the surface of sun. The causes of appearance of sunspots are not known till date, but they are seen to increase every 11 years.
