    False

    Explanation:

The Ames test is used to detect whether a compound is mutagenic or not. In this test, the bacteria are utilized to test whether a chemical compound can make a change in the bacteria DNA sequence or not. So in this test mutagenic potential of a chemical compound is checked.

The positive result shows that the chemical compound is mutagenic and as mutation is linked to carcinogen, therefore, it can be said that this mutagen may be carcinogen but it can not be proved by this test that the mutagen is carcinogen because it is preliminary step which can only tell about mutagenic compound not carcinogenic compound. Therefore the statement is false.
