    Protons and neutron are found in the nucleus of an atom. protons are positively charged and neutrons have no charge. Electrons are found in the orbital shells of an atom in a constant motion. The electrons are negatively and therefore when in abundance than the protons, an atom is said to be negatively charge. The loss and gain of these electrons affects the overall charge of the atom. A loss of electrons makes the atom negatively charged and gain positively charged.
