Assume that you ate an animal-based diet that was high in total fat and saturated fat, which of the following statements would be true in regards to science and society (The study of science provides explanations that have significant impact on society, including technological advancements, improvement of human life, and better understandling of human and other influences on the earth's environment) ?

a. I would be at increased risk for heart disease the leading cause of death of Americans, and if I continue to eat this way it may contribute to increased societal costs associated with healthcare.

b. I would be consuming an optimal and health promoting diet for human life.

c. My dietary practices would have a positive impact on the Earth's environment because animal foods are more sustainable than plant foods.

    Explanation:

    In regards to Science

    Saturated fat is good, minimally. However, if in excess, would put anyone at risk to heart disease, which may lead to death. Also, sustainability of animal based foods is hard, due to its cost and impact on the environment, because of its green house gas emissions. A forerunner of global warming.

    In regards to the society

    The diet practice would most definitely lead to increase in weight, and if not monitored, obesity. Although minute when compared to the impact on a nation's economy, the cost of healthcare for such an individual would most definitely increase.
