The number of chromosomes would be X during the interphase and prophase. The number of chromosomes will double i. e become 2x during anaphase and telophase.

If the cell with X number of chromosomes has undergone mitosis than the number of chromosomes in the daughter cell would be same as the cell X.

If the cell with X number of chromosomes has undergone meiosis then the number of chromosomes in the daughter cells will become half of X.
