Cell division can be stated as the process of dividing the parent cells into two or more daughter cells

    Explanation:

The evidence for the student claim would be the model meiosis, meiosis can be defined as the unique way of cell division used by sexually reproducing organisms to produce the gametes. It consists of totally eight stages such as Prophase I and 2, MetaPhase 1 and 2, Anaphase 1 and 2, Telophase1 and 2, Cytokinesis 1 and 2. It consists of two division cycle which results in haploid gametes. During meiosis, chromosomes assort themselves independently of each other, which allows for more different possible combinations of chromosomes and that particular recombination makes the genetic diversity.
