Answer: Examples of Monosaccharides are glucose, mannose, fructose, ribose, ribulose, xylose.

Explanation: Monosaccharides are simple sugars which consist of a single sugar molecule that is either an aldehyde or a ketone with two or more hydroxyl groups. The simplest monosaccharides are the three carbon sugars: the trioses. Monosaccharides with four, five, six and seven carbon atoms in their backbones are called tetroses, pentoses, hexoses and heptoses respectively. Examples of trioses are glyceraldehyde and dihydroxyacetone. Examples of tetroses are erythrose and threose. Examples of pentoses are ribose, ribulose, xylulose, arabinose, xylose. Examples of hexoses are glucose, mannose, fructose, galactose. The most abundant monosaccharide in nature is the six carbon sugar D-glucose.
