    Grey water tends to be alkaline due to the cleaning products it contains and because of this it should not be used to irrigate acid-loving plants.

    grey water with pH in excess of 8 can lead to increased soil pH and reduced availability of some micro-nutrients for plants, and thus affecting the growth of plants
