    Answer: Option D.

    Explanation:

Gametes are referred to as reproductive cells, also called sex cells. Gametes are haploid. The female gametes is called ova while the male gametes is sperm. Gametes have the ability to fuse with the gametes of opposite sex to form zygote leading to development of new organisms. Each cells carries one copy of chromosome. Other cells in the body are diploid because they have paired chromosome but the human sex cells are diploid i. e they carries a set of single chromosome.

    They are haploid

    Explanation:

Gametes differ from other cells in the body in that they are haploid (n) meaning they have half the number of chromosomes/chromatids of a diploid. These are also the inherited cells from both parents. This with the sex cells / gametes being haploid, the egg from the mother being haploid in conjugation with sperm from the father being haploid ensures the continual production of a zygote that is always diploid.
