    Explanation:

    Osmosis can be understood as the net shift of water molecules or its movement between the permeable membranes. Osmosis is caused by the difference in solute concentration between the consecutive membranes. Osmosis process do not transfer any ions and solutes contained by the water molecules. The movement of water is always from the lower concentration level to higher concentration level. Example of osmosis can be seen during the absorption and secretion of water in our small intestine.
