Two aligned sequences fo the same gene differ by four substitutions, all transitions, two more sequences for the same gene also differ by found substitutions, two transitions and two transversals. which pair of sequences has probably been evolving independently longer and how do you know?

    The first pair of sequence.

    This is because transitions are interchangeable of two ringed purines A to G or of one ringed pyrimidine C to T they therefore involves bases of similar shapes.

    Transition mutations are generated at higher frequency than transformation which is interchangeable of purines for pyrimidine bases which involves exchange of one ring and two ring structures.
