    Prokaryotic cell or bacterial cell contain cell wall which is made up of peptidoglycan and traditional antibacterial antibiotics were able to interfere with the cell wall synthesis and cause the destruction of bacterial cells.

    For example, one of the most traditional antibiotic is penicillin which inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell wall by blocking transpeptidation reaction. As it inhibits new cell wall formation it results in the formation of holes in the cell wall.

    These holes in the cell allow movement molecules inside the cell and cause osmotic cell lysis. Therefore the statement is true.
