    Antibiotic resistance occurs when a bacteria develops a resistant gene in order to be less susceptible to a medicine in use.

    The more the bacteria is exposed to different medicine the more the resistance. When these bacteria infect humans, they tend to be difficult to treat.

    In a surgical ward where antibiotic are heavily used, there is a high chance many bacteria living in the area are antibiotic resistant
