    Explanation:

    Males are heterogametic as they produce two types of gametes one carrying an X and the other carrying Y chromosome. Females are homogametic because they produce one type of gamete carrying the X chromosomes. The chromosomes are inherited equally in the mendelian fashion. Genes on the chromosomes are therefore inherited equally with 50% coming from the mother and 50% coming from the father.
