    A. Double fertilization in the life cycle of seed plants results in the production of a diploid zygote and a triploid endosperm nucleus.

    Explanation:

Many angiosperms have central cell which contains two haploid nuclei. These fuse before or during fertilization. The fusion of this homodiploid nucleus (diploid zygote) with the sperm nucleus gives rise to a triploid endosperm nucleus that has two maternal and one paternal genetic make-up.
