Polarity creates water molecules that are strongly attracted to one another. This attraction creates a high surface tension allowing water to clump together and flow through plant roots and human blood capillaries.

Water is the only natural substance that can exist in all three states of matter - solid, liquid, and gas. If water did not have these special properties, then all life would die. For example, lakes and rivers would freeze solid and all aquatic life would not be able to survive.

Water is so special that its physical properties even influences our weather. We wouldn't have rain without the water cycle and evaporation.
