Air is a gas while water is a liquid. Air is compressible while water is for all purposes non compressible. Water is H2O with some dissolved solids and gases while air is a mixture of all gases with some water in the form of vapor. Water transmits sounds 25 times better than air. Water becomes a solid at temperatures below 32degrees f. and becomes a vapor above 212 degrees f. Air doesnt change state until much lower temps before it liquified and doesnt change state at high temps.
