A newly found type of yeast called the "blooby" has been found in the North Carolina's State Fair Grounds. When tests are performed to look for its number of chromosomes and genome size, a strange result puzzles the researchers studying it. It seems that the chromosome territories are not clearly defined. Furthermore, when they look at the rRNA production, it seems is not actually happening in the nucleolus. What type of experiments the researchers may have performed in the "blooby" to reach such conclusions?

    Answer is karyotyping.

    Explanation:

Karyotyping is a laboratory procedure to examine the sets of chromosomes. It can further be explained as the process of pairing and ordering all the chromosomes of organisms, and in the process, it will provide a genome - wide snapshot of an individual's chromosomes.

This experiment is carried out by the use of standardized staining procedures which reveal structural characteristics features of each chromosome.
