    Explanation:

    There are two important phases of cell cycle one is interphase and the other is mitotic phase. Interphase consist of three sub phases G1 phase, Sphase and G2 phase.

    S phase is also known as synthesis phase because during this phase the DNA of the cell undergo replication to generate 2 daughter DNA molecules. As a result the amount of DNA gets doubled in the S phase than that of G1 phase.
