Two species of bacteria produce different repiratory end products. Species A always produces ATP, CO2, and H20; species B always produces ATP, ethyl alcohol, and CO2. Which conclusion can correctly be drawn from this informatio?

    The correct answer is - species B is anaerobic and A is aerobic.

    Explanation:

    In aerobic respiration, carbohydrate is broken down into ATP, CO2, and H20 in the presence of oxygen and in anaerobic respiration carbohydrate is broken down to produce ATP, ethyl alcohol, and CO2 in the absence of oxygenand this process is called fermentation.

    So the organisms which use aerobic respiration for ATP production are called aerobes and organisms which use anaerobic respiration or fermentation for ATP production are called anaerobes. Therefore species A is aerobic and species B is anaerobic.
