    The main objective of aquaponics is to utilize waste. In aquaponics, fish are harvested in water. These fish excretes waste in the form of ammonia which is in turn harmful to the fishes. Thus, natural bacteria's such as Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter are introduced into the water. These bacteria convert harmful ammonia in to usable forms such as nitrates. Nitrate enriched water is then used to cultivate crops.
