    The homologous chromosome is the chromosome which is similar in shape, size, centromere position and have the same gene at the same locus.

    In homologous chromosome same gene is present at the same locus but different alleles can be present of the same gene.

    If the same allele of a gene is present in the homologous chromosome than it is said to be in homozygous condition and if different allele of a gene is present in the chromosome than it is called heterozygous condition. Only two alleles can be present of a gene in a single individual.
