The nasal mucosa presents an ideal site for bioadhesive drug delivery systems, resulting in improved nasal drug absorption. Nasal route is important and has many advantages for the drug delivery systems, between them we can find:

    - it provides access to "highly vascularized mucosa" that can be exploited as an interesting site for local drug delivery.

    - It's anatomy and physiology can provide a direct path to the central nervous system, what results in higher concentrations of drug in different regions of the brain.

    - Nasal route provides direct access to systemic absorption to some compounds. Drug being absorbed via the nasal cavity can be described as diffusion of drug into system circulation via the nasal mucosa.
