    Cytokines may be defined as the large group of the small protein that plays an important role in the immune system and cell signalling. They can also be used as immunodulating agents.

    During the inflammation cytokine reach at the inflammation site. Cytokine shows the pleiotropy in which a single cytokine can perform different functions. They show redundancy in which different cytokine perform similar immune function. The synergistic phenomena in cytokine describe the increase in the cytokine activity in presence of another cytokine.
