A field contains two related species of flowering plants. Species A has a diploid chromosome number of 22, and species B has a diploid chromosome number of 26. If a third species arises as a result of hybridization between A and B, how many chromosomes will it have?

    Explanation:

    The new hybrid specie will have 24 chromosome, that because of improper alignment of chromosome in the hybrids. We take an analogy from the Horse (64) and Donkey (62) cross, that will ultimately produces an infertile mule of 63 chromosomes. Not to mention, all the hybrids produced are infertile.
