    Some species of birds have the ability to thermoregulate by behavioral or physiological processes. This will allow them to cope with increased temperatures and adapt to new climates. Other birds, however, are not able to withstand high temperatures, which could lead to high mortality and, therefore, increased population declines.

    To adapt to these conditions birds should have a high heat tolerance threshold, this will allow birds to maintain a body temperature around 10 to 15 degrees below the high air temperature. For example, if the air temperature is around 30 ºC, their body temperature could remain below 20 ºC.

    Also, they should have thermoregulation capabilities or plasticity. This means that through different methods, such as reducing metabolism or increasing their evaporation rate, they will be able to cope by losing or exchaning heat with the environment.
